The Shell NXplorers Challenge invites university students to look beyond the obvious, examine the energy challenges affecting their communities and discover opportunities to make a difference. By encouraging young minds to question existing approaches, challenge assumptions and think creatively, the programme empowers participants to explore how everyday challenges connect to the wider energy landscape.

Through a structured, hands-on learning experience, participants will apply systems thinking, scenario planning and Theory of Change to investigate complex problems, identify root causes and understand the relationships between people, technology, resources and the environment. They will explore different future scenarios, consider the potential impact of their ideas and develop a clearer understanding of how individual actions can contribute to broader change.

From identifying challenges to developing practical solutions, the Shell NXplorers Challenge encourages students to approach problems from new perspectives, collaborate with others and turn their insights into actionable ideas. The experience helps participants build critical thinking, problem-solving and innovation skills while exploring new possibilities for the future of energy.
