In a period marked by market uncertainty and evolving geopolitical dynamics, Egypt Energy Show 2026 brought together global decision-makers to drive alliances, strengthen partnerships, and shape the future of global economies. As Egypt continued to power not only its own future but also contribute to energy security across the region and beyond, the event took place at a time of heightened global focus on regional stability and energy markets. Egypt Energy Show 2026 convened Heads of State, ministers, and industry leaders to advance dialogue on the partnerships, investments, and solutions required to ensure a reliable, affordable, and resilient energy supply, addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by a rapidly evolving global landscape.
The opening ceremony featured keynote speeches from HE Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt; HE Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus; HE Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Egypt; John Christmann, CEO and President of APA Corporation; Ditte Juul Jørgensen, Director-General for Energy at the European Commission; and HE Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Egypt's Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister, Karim Badawi, highlighted Egypt’s growing role as a regional energy hub, supported by strong infrastructure, a strategic location, and partnerships with global energy companies. He added that the country continues to advance its energy sector through increased exploration, production, and investment, alongside expanding refining and petrochemical capacities. Key achievements include 83 new oil and gas discoveries, a significant reduction in partner arrears, and $6.5 billion in sector investments during 2024/2025.
Efforts to diversify the energy mix are ongoing, with a target of 42% renewable energy by 2030, while maintaining natural gas as a critical component for energy stability. Major regional cooperation projects, including linking Cypriot gas fields to Egyptian liquefaction facilities, further reinforce Egypt’s strategic position in energy trade, the minister noted.
He added, ‘Looking ahead, Egypt plans to intensify exploration activities, enhance investment attractiveness, and leverage advanced technologies to boost production. The government also emphasized continued reforms in the mining sector and invited stakeholders to the upcoming Egypt International Mining Convention 2026.’
At the Egypt Energy Show 2026, John Christmann, CEO and President of APA Corporation, reaffirmed his company’s strong commitment to Egypt, highlighting over three decades of partnership in supporting the country’s energy sector development. He expressed appreciation to Egyptian leadership, government officials, and President Nikos Christodoulides, underscoring the importance of international collaboration.
He also emphasised Apache’s significant investments, exceeding $5 billion in Egypt’s Western Desert since 2021, contributing to strengthening domestic energy supply, reducing import dependency, and reinforcing the role of natural gas in enhancing energy security. He also noted its extensive exploration footprint, covering large areas and leveraging existing infrastructure to accelerate production and growth.
Reiterating its long-term vision, Christmann highlighted his company’s commitment to innovation, sustainable operations, and close collaboration with partners to ensure a reliable energy future. He also showcased its social impact initiatives, including supporting education for more than 15,000 girls and delivering healthcare services through community partnerships.
At Egypt Energy Show 2026, Ditte Juul Jørgensen highlighted the European Union’s strong partnership with Egypt, praising the country’s role as a regional energy and investment hub. Addressing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and President Nikos Christodoulides, she emphasized the importance of cooperation and action amid global energy market volatility and regional uncertainty.
Jørgensen stressed the urgency of accelerating the transition to clean energy, diversifying supply sources, and building resilient energy systems. She commended Egypt’s progress in renewable energy, including green hydrogen initiatives, and reaffirmed the EU’s support in strengthening sustainable energy value chains, reducing emissions, and ensuring affordable, reliable energy.
She concluded by underscoring the importance of deeper EU–Egypt cooperation to address current challenges and build a shared future of stability, resilience, and sustainable growth.
From his side, HE Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi emphasized the longstanding partnership between Egypt and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), highlighting shared commitments to regional cooperation, economic integration, and energy security.
AlBudaiwi noted the pivotal role of the GCC in global energy markets, accounting for 27% of world oil exports, one-third of global oil reserves, and one-fifth of gas reserves. He underscored the GCC’s responsibility in stabilizing international energy markets through coordinated production policies, while also advancing national strategies to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
Addressing regional challenges, including threats to energy infrastructure and maritime routes, AlBudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC’s dedication to safeguarding energy supply and supporting international stability. He also highlighted the success of past joint initiatives, such as the Egyptian Gulf Trade and Investment Forum, and proposed the first GCC–Egypt Energy Conference in 2027 under the 2024–2028 joint action plan, aimed at further strengthening collaboration across all levels.
